Who Is Comet Batteries?

Comet Batteries was founded by Perc McGilvery in 1961, with the view to building the best available batteries. Prior to founding Comet, Perc was the Queensland and Victorian State Manager for Clyde Batteries. With a wealth of knowledge about industry specific needs and a keen spirit, Comet Batteries began manufacturing Hard Rubber batteries similar to those available today.

In 1974 Comet purchased Mohawk Batteries which was founded in Fortitude Valley in 1933. In the same year Redcliffe Batteries was purchased.

1984 saw the beginning of a long standing relationship with the world's largest and best manufacturer of Poly propylene batteries - Global Yuasa. Global Yuasa is based in Korea and has been supplying Australia with batteries that have provided better service than many Australian made or imported products available.

Recent years have seen Sealed Lead Acid and Gel Tech type batteries prevail. These batteries offer a new age of safety and application features. Also now available is a range of Lead Calcium High Capacity and Deep Cycle Batteries.

Over time, the natural progression to offering a full Auto Electrical Service followed. Today we are still able to offer a wide range of services including sales and service of Alternators, Starter Motors and Regulators - both new and fully reconditioned units; Automotive accessory fitting service; Design and Installation of Auxiliary charging systems and Auto Electrical Troubleshooting.

Comet Super Premium

Comet Super Premium Batteries started out as Hand Built Hard Rubber batteries of extremely high quality. Due to changing demands and economic conditions, it is no longer viable to produce these batteries in the smaller sizes.

These batteries are however still available in the larger sizes and are offered with a 48 month warranty*.

Comet Premium (CP)

Comet Premium is Poly-propylene batteries manufactured by Global Yuasa. They are imported from Korea on the basis that they are the best of their kind available.

Global has been established since 1952 and has since been one of Korea's leading storage battery manufacturers. With a policy of supplying the best products at reasonable prices, Global has always worked with a dedicated research and development team.

At the conclusion of a five year technology transfer agreement with Japan Storage Co., Global was the first Korean firm to introduce Japanese Battery Manufacturing technologies to the local market. In 1975 when the Technology Transfer Agreement expired, Global established a Capital and Technology Association with Yuasa Battery Company Ltd of Japan. Hence the now world renowned Global Yuasa Battery Co Ltd.

Our Comet Premium batteries are one of the highest quality Polypropylene Batteries available with a full 2 year Warranty*. The 24 month free of charge replacement warranty is offered to cover manufacturing faults in the battery. These batteries are available in all sizes for the Australian automotive market.

Mohawk 24Month (ME)

This product range is based on the same batteries as our Comet Premium range. The difference is evident with the warranty offered. Whilst maintaining a high quality product we are able to offer you a more economical option by reducing the warranty conditions.

Mohawk 24 month batteries are available with a 12 month free of charge replacement period concurrently followed by a 12 pro-rata replacement period*.

Redcliffe

Our Redcliffe brand batteries have been developed to provide a budget range for consumers. The batteries are usually sourced in the same way as our Mohawk 12Month range. As a general rule - Redcliffe Batteries are imported from China or Indonesia. The quality again is difficult to gauge.

This range is popular in the second-hand car market. The warranty offered is 12 months free of charge replacement warranty*.

This range of batteries is quite limited, however still available for the most popular Australian Automotive Applications.

Deep Cycle Batteries

Comet Batteries offers a wide range of solutions for your auxiliary power battery needs. There is a lot of confusion when it comes to determining the exact needs when looking at setting up Deep Cycle Batteries and their charging systems.

We have a devised an easy to understand method of working through your enquiry and finding the right solution. Our Auto Electrician can set up charging systems in your vehicle according to the specifications identified.*

Dry Cell Batteries

In a society where electronic "gizmos" are on the increase, you cannot afford to have undependable batteries in use. Comet Batteries can offer a service which will provide you with batteries for any electronic application available.

The choice of NEW or REPACKED batteries is available for all battery packs where possible. Most mobile phone, cordless tools and rechargeable appliances are powered by battery packs which are able to be disassembled, repacked and reassembled. This process will bring the battery pack back up to as new performance **.

More often than not, it is more economically viable to have battery packs repacked as compared with purchasing a new battery.

N.B. It is important to note that there are some organisations which may advertise "new" batteries/battery packs at exceptional prices. Some of these batteries will in fact be repacked batteries, not "brand new".

Other products available include rechargeable batteries for torches, portable vacuum cleaners, electric toys and emergency lighting.

Battery packs can be repacked with a turnaround time of approximately 48 hours.

All scrap batteries are shipped out to a recycling plant where all re-useable products are processed.

1. 12 Months FREE of CHARGE Warranty: Should this product prove defective, due to a fault or faults, in parts or labour used in manufacture, within 12 months from the proven date of purchase, it will be repaired or replaced Free of Charge.
2. 48 Months Policy Pro-Rata adjustment period: Should this product prove defective, due to a fault or faults, in parts or labour used in manufacture, within 48 months from the proven date of purchase, a similar product will be supplied at the then recommended retail price, reduced pro-rata in proportion to the number of months elapsed.

Should this product prove defective, due to a fault in manufacture, within the periods below from the proven date of purchase, a similar product will be supplied to the original purchaser at the then current recommended retail price reduced pro rata in proportion to the number of months elapsed or free of charge if within the FOC period.

NOTE:

1. This warranty/ Pro rata replacement policy does not cover: Freight, packaging, fitting , removal or loan product. This warranty - pro rata replacement policy does not cover:- External causes of damage i.e. Breakage, Abuse, Misapplication, Incorrect Adjustment, Incorrect Fitting or connection.
   In all instances the product shall be returned to Comet Battery Co. with all costs paid.
2. Continuous Deep Cycling is considered equal to or greater than 30% discharge on average of 4 or more times per week.
   This warranty is in addition to all other rights and remedies in respect of this product which the consumer has under State & Territory laws.

4. All warranty periods are halved if other than an approved constant voltage charger is used.
